A yellow Porsche sits beneath blue shutters. Snow settles on a Carrera carrying skis. A straw hat waits on the back shelf of a Fiat. David Szabo notices the details that make a place feel inhabited. His photographs leave room for the lives around the cars, and for the weather to have its say.

Based in St. Moritz, David works across photography and film, making automotive stories, editorial portraits, weddings and proposals. His background in architecture informs the way he reads light and arranges a frame. His documentary approach keeps that sense of order open to the moment: a passing car, an unguarded gesture, a change in the sky.

In this first selection for The Good Season, the mountain world has several temperatures. Summer roads bend through green hillsides. Autumn trees catch a last pocket of sun. Winter reduces a car park to soft white shapes. There is glamour here, certainly, but it shares the frame with wet tarmac, luggage racks and the ordinary business of getting somewhere.

David gives both the grand view and the small detail their due. A jet and a Ferrari occupy only the lower part of a vast mountain scene; two wooden tennis rackets can hold an entire photograph. Across the selection, strong lines and generous space let the eye travel. The reward is a sense of being there, with a little time to spare.

“I photograph people, weddings and cars in a way that feels cinematic but never artificial.”
