A short note on the roster.

Editorial

The hands behind the work. A short house roster of photographers, painters and printmakers whose pieces we make to order, frame by hand, and hold to museum standard.

The Good Season is a UK photography house at home in Manchester, publishing limited-edition fine art prints by a single artist in residence. Every edition is made to order: printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, hand-framed in sustainably sourced oak, numbered to the edition before it ships.

The roster turns over slowly. The house would rather publish one quietly extraordinary edition than a dozen safe ones. If you are looking for a single piece of work to live with for a long time, this is a good place to start. If you would like the house to point you somewhere first, browse the collections or read the magazine.

How the house works with artists.

A short house note
  1. Invitation only.

The house roster grows slowly. Each artist is chosen for the picture and the practice, not the follower count.

  2. Made to order.

Nothing sits on a shelf. Every print on these pages is made after you choose: archival pigment on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, hand-framed in sustainably sourced oak, numbered.

  3. A share, in perpetuity.

1.5% of every profit, in perpetuity, supports the conservation of the landscapes the work depends on. The audited Foundation report is published every year.

Questions about the roster.

06 answers
Who are the artists at The Good Season?

A small, hand-picked roster of fine art photographers, painters and printmakers. Each artist is chosen for the picture and the practice, not the follower count, and every piece they release through the house is a numbered limited edition.

How are artists chosen for the house?

Invitation only. The house editor speaks with the artist, looks at the working process, and only then commissions a release. The roster turns over slowly because the house would rather publish a single quietly extraordinary edition than ten safe ones.

Are the artists' prints numbered?

Yes. Every print released through the house is a numbered limited edition, with the edition size published on each product page. Once an edition closes, it does not reopen.

Where are the artists based?

Each artist works from their own location, listed on their profile page. The Good Season house, where the prints are made and framed, is at home in Manchester, UK.

How are the artists' prints made and framed?

Archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag (308gsm cotton, rated for 100+ years lightfast), FSC conservation window mount with acid-free backing, anti-reflective acrylic glazing with 66% UV block, sustainably sourced oak moulding, hand-finished in the UK.

Does buying a print support the artist?

Yes. Each edition supports the artist who made it, and 1.5% of every profit, in perpetuity, also supports The Good Season Foundation, which funds the conservation of the landscapes the work depends on. The audited Foundation report is published every year.
