From the house.

Some of these swims begin on rock, some on a crowded shore. In Before the Splash, Emma Tysinger catches a swimmer upside down above the foam off the rocks in Nice, the water still waiting below. In Two in the Cove, two swimmers cross beneath a pale cliff and spreading pines on the Côte d’Azur, where the water turns from turquoise to deep blue in the shadow.

The Small Blue Boat finds swimmers between moored boats at the foot of a layered Greek cliff. On the Riviera, Cliffside Company, The Umbrella Committee and A Place by the Water look down on beaches where swimmers become small marks of movement in clear green water, with parasols in rows along the shore.

Choosing your photograph.

All six are portrait, made for a hallway, the wall beside a window or a pair either side of a door. Before the Splash and Two in the Cove are the quiet ones, mostly water and rock; the three Riviera beaches are busy with people and reward a wall you pass close to.

Strong blues and greens sit well with white walls, pale wood and linen. Each photograph is printed to order on 308gsm Hahnemühle Photo Rag with archival pigment inks, unframed or in a black, white or wood frame.
