From the house.

Most of these boats are at rest. In Tied for the Afternoon, white hulls sit close together in a Côte d’Azur harbour, mooring ropes drawing diagonals across the water. In The Small Blue Boat a single hull holds the foot of a Greek cliff that fills the rest of the frame. Feet Up, Sea Below looks down from a terrace in Greece to two boats lying offshore in deep blue water.

Some are on their way. A wooden rowing boat carries two people across a lake in Croatia in A Slow Crossing; a boat with a red canopy leads up a narrow passage of water in the Alps in The Blue Between. Jordan Cahill’s Drift looks straight down on one small boat in open water. The Yellow Passage is taken from on board: a life ring, a yellow lintel and a rectangle of sea between decks.

Choosing your photograph.

Choose by how much water you want on the wall. Drift and Feet Up, Sea Below are mostly sea, deep blue fields that calm a busy room. Tied for the Afternoon is all boats: hulls, rails and reflections, with the structure to sit beside bookshelves in a study. The Yellow Passage reads cleanly at a small size, which suits a kitchen or a compact hallway.

Nearly all are portrait, so they work in narrower spaces or as a pair. Drift is the wide one, made for the wall above a bed or a low sideboard. Each is printed to order on 308gsm Hahnemühle Photo Rag and offered unframed or in a black, white or wood frame.
